There is more than one deadline
Start your transfer scholarship search before you submit admission applications. Build a separate deadline list for each destination college. An admissions deadline does not establish when scholarship consideration closes, and submitting an application does not establish that all required materials arrived.
Use this guide for U.S. transfer planning. If you are still choosing funding sources, start with the community college transfer scholarship guide.

| Deadline | What to ask |
|---|---|
| Admission priority date | Must I apply or already be admitted by the scholarship deadline? |
| Scholarship application | Is consideration automatic, a separate form, or a nomination? |
| Supporting materials | When must transcripts, membership proof and recommendations be received? |
| Financial aid forms | Which FAFSA year and any additional forms does the college require? |
| Offer and acceptance | When are decisions released, and when must I accept an award or pay a deposit? |
Published dates: why one calendar is not enough
These selected programs illustrate different processes, not a complete national deadline list.

| Program / entry term | Published deadline | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Cooke Undergraduate Transfer · Fall 2027 | December 9, 2026, 11:59 p.m. EST | Submit the scholarship application through the Foundation’s designated process. |
| University of Iowa PTK · Spring 2027 | December 1, 2026 | Be admitted and submit the PTK scholarship application; meet merit criteria. |
| University of Iowa PTK · Fall 2027 | May 3, 2027 | Use the fall-entry deadline, not the spring one. |
Check Cooke’s current instructions ↗ and Iowa’s transfer award rules ↗. Cooke is competitive and has academic, financial and transfer-status requirements. Iowa’s PTK pool has limited awards; meeting the deadline does not guarantee selection.
Work backward from your earliest deadline
The timing below is a planning buffer, not a provider requirement. If your deadline is closer, prioritize the required steps rather than waiting for an ideal schedule.
Six to eight weeks before: verify the route
Open the current official scholarship page for each college. Record the entry term and whether “complete” means a submitted form or received documents. Ask about unclear requirements now. Save the source link with the date you checked it.
Four to six weeks before: request outside materials
Request transcripts and recommendations if required. Give recommenders the actual prompt, submission method and due date. Confirm whether in-progress credits count toward eligibility instead of counting them yourself.
One to two weeks before: finish and verify
Submit when ready. Check the portal for missing items and save the confirmation. A receipt for your form is not proof that every document is complete. Resolve a missing transcript with the receiving office.
After submission: track the decision
Record the expected notification date, award acceptance deadline and enrollment deposit terms. Add a follow-up task before the deposit deadline if your aid offer is still missing.
If you missed a scholarship deadline
Ask the responsible office whether late consideration exists, whether funds remain and whether a separate departmental or continuing-student award has a different process. Do not assume an exception will be granted or that the next cycle accepts already-enrolled students.
Keep an affordable alternative available while waiting. Before changing your transfer term just to pursue an award, ask about admission deferral, award eligibility and the extra cost of delaying graduation.
“I plan to enter as a transfer student in [term/year]. I submitted [application/material] on [date]. Can you confirm whether my file is complete for scholarship consideration? If I missed the priority date, which funding options remain open, and when should I expect an aid decision?”
Turn the dates into a usable checklist
Use the free scholarship application tracker to record each deadline and next task. Put the provider’s time zone and required documents in your notes. If the next cycle is not published, label the date unconfirmed rather than recycling last year’s date.
For PTK-specific paperwork, use the PTK transfer scholarship checklist. When offers arrive, compare the remaining cost, not just the award amount.
